Star Birthday
August 20th, 2012
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. I managed to clean off my stamping table which always makes me want to stamp. 🙂 Here’s a birthday card I made for a great friend of ours. He’s a graphic designer, so I figured he could handle some bold colors and patterns. LOL!
This card features the new TE stamp set Doodle Notes plus the Notepaper A la Carte stamp and the Notepaper and Clipboard Taylored Die set. I am so in love with this clipboard die idea right now along with the Notepaper and Grid Paper A l a Cartes…I mean…MINIATURE OFFICE SUPPLIES!!! Love it!
I stamped the Notepaper image onto TE Choice White cs by inking it up with Pool Party ink and then using a Riding Hood Red SU marker direct to rubber to color the line down the side of the stamp. Then I die cut it. I stamped the Doodle images in Memento black ink and colored with Copics. Of course you have to be mindful that the Pool Party ink will smear. I covered the star with yellow stickles. The back piece of the clipboard is simply a rectangle of Espresso cardstock with the corners rounded. I shaped the clippy die cut by wrapping it around a pencil and then popped it up on a foam dot. Row of stars was created with the TE Reach for the Stars Border Die. Finishing touches include Bronze Viva Pearl Pen, orange Kaisercraft rhinestones, and brown Doodle Twine. Patterned paper is Echo Park.
I didn’t take a photo of the inside as I was rushing out the door to church with this card in hand. Inside it says “Birthday Wishes” and there is another diecut star border.
It’s funny, when the Doodle Notes set was in development (concept by Jen Shults, illustrated by Nancy Mckinney) we talked about it being primarily for creating notes for kids’ lunchboxes. Sounded cute, but I assumed I wouldn’t have much use for it. However, I LOVE this set. It’s SO FUN and really super versatile. I just love it when that happens!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks Day 2
August 8th, 2012
Happy Wednesday! I’m back with Day 2 of the Taylored Expressions August Sneak Peeks. Everything will be revealed on the TE Facebook page tonight at 6pm PST during the Preview Party (stop by for lots of chances to win a prize) and then everything will be available for purchase tomorrow morning at 8:00 am PST in the Fresh Out of the Oven Department.
Today we are featuring all the new Taylored Dies in our samples. The die set I used is called the Notepaper and Clipboard Taylored Die Set. It was designed to coordinate with the 2 new A la Carte stamps: Grid Paper (used on my project) and Notepaper and of course you can use it on it’s own as well. The first die cuts an ATC sized piece of notepaper and the second die cuts the clippy part of a clipboard.
For my project I stamped the Grid Paper A la carte in light blue ink and die cut it with the Notepaper die. Then I mounted it on a piece of kraft cardstock with the corners rounded to be the base of my little clipboard. I die cut the clippy from gray cardstock and adhered it with a foam dot for dimension.
I used Jen’s August Sketch For You to Try for the layout featuring papers from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6×6 collection. The sweet images are from the new stamp set Doodle Notes. I know you are going to adore this set concepted by our own Jen Shults and illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line of TE stamps. I stamped the images over the grid background and did a little copic coloring. I also added Sparkly Fluff to the cloud. The heart was stamped on a scrap and cut out and adhered with a foam dot. This card makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too!
Now let’s see what the Baker’s Dozen has cooked up today:

July Stamp Class
August 6th, 2012
Happy Monday! Yes, I am well aware that it is August! I seem to be running a little behind in several areas of life and I have not yet shared the projects we created in my July stamp class. Previews for the August Taylored Expressions Release begin tomorrow, so I thought I bet get my act together and get these July projects posted!
First up is a really cute card featuring Under the Sea and the Faux Diamond Dust Technique (kaleidescope embossing powder used here). The main image panel was inspired by a card created by Baker’s Dozen Designer Shannon. Her card is much more involved and quite spectacular which was great inspiration for my simpler class card. Paper is Echo Park. This card is SO sparkly in person!!
Next up is a simple Genie Bag created with some SU dp and the Taylored Expressions Petal Pop-up Dies. I adore Genie Bags and will be forever grateful to Jen del Muro for coming up with the idea several years back! This one is quite small. I used small white lunch bags from Smart’n’Final and cut the tops down. The dp panel is 4.25″ x 5.5″ and the handle was punched with an SU oval punch. I love that you can make these whatever size meets your needs. The tag is a TE Mini Tag and the sentiment is from the Daisy Bouquet Petite set.
The final project we created was an easel card…my very first easel card. Yes, I was reading the tutorial on SCS the afternoon of class to pull this together. LOL! And I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The card features TE stamp set Oops-a-Daisy and the Fence Border Die. The bloom was first inked with a Melon Mambo pad, then the ink was removed from the center with a Q-tip. Then the chocolate ink was added from a SU marker direct-to-rubber on the stamp. I think this would have also been beautiful with Faux Diamond Dust added to the panel! If you haven’t tried an easel card yet, I’d encourage you to go for it. It’s really easy and has quite a WOW result!
So, those were our 3 projects for July. Even though I have a bunch of ideas swirling around in my head for my next class, I’ve decided to skip August. I’ll be back at in September though! I hope you’ll come back and visit me tomorrow as I have a new TE stamp set that I’m super excited about!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
