My March Class

I held my “monthly” stamp class on Friday night.  I hadn’t had one since November, so it was great to see everyone and to get stamping!  This class featured Stampin’ Up products since one of my regular students is a Stampin’ Up! Demo and SAB is going on.  I like to give my girls the chance to order during SAB.  At the end of the evening I discovered that one of the stamp sets we used (Charming) is actually retired.  D’oh!  I’m pretty out of the loop when it comes to SU these days.

 

Anyway – I wanted to share the three projects we made in class.

First up is a card featuring that retired set.  I’m not sure how long I’ve had it, but I had never inked it up before and it’s quite pretty.

The sentiment is Taylored Expressions – Many Mini Occasions and the little tag die is also TE.  The paper is all SU.

The next card features the new So Very Grateful stamp set along with the new Hardwood Background stamp on SU notecards.

The image was embossed with black craft ink and iridescent embossing powder.  It was them water colored with ink from classic pads and an aquapainter.  The background was stamped with Coastal Cabana ink.

Our third project was created with the Petite Purse die.  So stinkin’ cute!  And thank you to Dawn Olchekske for her great video with all the tips on how best to assemble this little purse.

Taylored Expressions March Release Day!

It’s Release Day at Taylored Expressions and I have a set of cards to share with you today!  I’m so happy to be playing along once again today!

 

Click on the photo above to see it larger.  My card set today features some beautiful new TE products:  The Shade Tree Sentiments stamp set and the Beauty Lies Within Dies, along with the previously released stamp set Make It Amazing.  For each card, I used 3 colors of SU ink and sponged them onto a panel of TE Choice White cardstock that had been masked off.  Then over the sponged band of color, with the masks still in place I stamped various images from Make It Amazing.  Here are individual photos of the cards.

 

 

 

 

The sentiments were heat embossed with black pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  These cards were so simple to make and it was so fun to play with the various color combos!  And you know me – I always love to add a touch of black any time I can!

Aren’t those dies just gorgeous?  They coordinate with (but don’t match, as they are sized differently) Embrace Beauty which is one of my favorite TE sets!

Taylored Expressions March Sneak Peeks: Shade Trees

I am very excited to be playing along in the Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks for March. I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve blogged!   I haven’t had much stamping mojo until last week when I started playing with some of the NEW TE stuff…and boy oh boy…I might have gotten a little carried away!

Ever since the Shade Tree Cutting Plate was released, I’ve been bugging asking Taylor if we could PLEASE have some sentiments and Bible verses formatted to fit just right with the plate.  FINALLY, today we are showcasing Shade Tree Scriptures and Shade Tree Sentiments, two medium sized sets in fonts I know you are going to LOVE!  Are you ready for some samples?  I have several!  *grin*

My first card features Psalm 1:3 (click on the photo to see it larger) and it’s a retirement card for a wonderful man at our church who just retired from being the custodian for many years.

TIP:  Cut the Shade Tree from kraft or other brown or neutral cardstock.  Cut it again from a green cardstock (either solid or a patterned paper as I have used here.)  Snip all the little leaves off the kraft/brown piece and layer it OVER the green one.  This is much easier and quicker than cutting off all the green leaves and attaching them individually.

My next card features Hebrews 10:23.

 

This time I cut the shade tree from a self-adhesive cork sheet and colored the leaves with a copic marker.  I added several TE scenery dies to the patterned paper background sky.

Next up is Psalm 118:1.  Didn’t Taylor do  BEAUTIFUL work with these verses?  I adore the font combos!

 

I wanted a different, more dreamy look for this one.  I used two colors of pink ink to sponge over the Cloud Border die to create a pretty sky in glossy cardstock. The shade tree and the Grass Border Die were cut from eggplant cardstock and purposely positioned askew on the card front.  The flowers were die cut from the Flower Box Sprigs and Flowers and embellished with KaiserCraft rhinestones.

Here’s a sunny one!

It doesn’t get much more simple than this one.  A classic black silhouette layered over a piece of patterned paper (Echo Park).  The sentiment is embossed with black pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  Embellishments are Doodlebug Sprinkles.  I am planning to include this card in a “sunshine box” I’m putting together for a college student friend who’s feeling a little homesick.

My final sample features Psalm 121:5.

 

This time I used the Shades of Thanks die (rather than the Shade Tree Cutting Plate) along with the Picket Fence Border Die.  The background was created with a Caribbean Kaleidacolor pad.  The ink was brayered over glossy cardstock.  It’s old-school, but I still love the effect!

All dies available at Taylored Expressions.  Stamp sets Shade Tree Sentiments and Shade Tree Scriptures will be available Thursday.
