Farewell to TESC

May 25th, 2012

Today marks the very last Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge.  I’ve been on the Sketch Crew from the very beginning and I will miss it A LOT!  Today you have 4 sketches to choose from to fuel your holiday weekend stamping!  Of course there are PRZES! We’re going out with a bang!  Taylor will draw random winners as follows:

  • One winner from each sketch to receive a $10 gift certificate to the TE Store.
  • One lucky person that participates in ALL 4 SKETCHES will receive a $40 gift certificate to the TE Store.

All of the past sketches are still available to you in Taylor’s downloadable Sketch Book.  Keep it on hand for great inspiration!

I had a lot of trouble creating my card for today. I think it was a combination of things inluding being really busy and thus tired this week, the fact that my stamp room hasn’t been cleaned up in weeks and I can’t find anything, and mostly the fact that I just didn’t want to sit down to make my LAST sketch card.

I chose to work with TESC161 and the stamp set Birds of a Feather. Paper is MME Miss Caroline Dolled Up 6×6. This really is a fun sketch with lots of possibilities!

Let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has today:

I want to express my appreciation to Taylor for hosting all of these sketches.  I know that a tremendous amount of work goes into it and I have loved being on the Sketch Crew!  I’ve been learning lately how change can be a good thing though, so I’m looking forward to other fun adventures ahead!  Thanks Taylor.  I know I’ll be using your Sketch Book for a long long time to come!

    TESC157 It’s Your Day

    April 27th, 2012

Happy Friday! It’s the 4th Friday of the month, so that means it’s time for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge.  Today’s sketch was designed by Jen Shults and I think you’ll really enjoy playing with it.  Please remember that there are prizes up for grabs for playing and TE stamps are NOT required.  You can get all the details on Taylor’s blog (link below).

For my sample I sort of worked backwards.  Usually I choose an image or stamp set first and then look for patterned papers and color combo.  Today I knew I wanted to work with the TE London Market Project Pantry kit, so I started there.  I actually put together most of my card before I even decided what would go in/on the focal point circle.  Once I settled on the patterned paper with the crowns on it, I immediately thought of the Royal Treatment Taylored Die set.  I cut the crown out of cardstock from the kit and then painted it with Smooch Illuminate and added liquid pearls. From there I went looking for sentiments that might work and I found two (for inside and ourtside) in two different Moka Petite stamp sets – Katie and Princess Penelope.  Embellishments – all from Taylored Expressions – include Liquid Pearls in Lemon and Bisque, Prima rose and Prima stick pin.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  • Happy Friday! I think this is some sort of record.  I honestly don’t remember the last time I blogged 5 days in a row! Tonight I’m holding my April stamp class and I have a full house registered.  I’m excited about the projects we’ll be making and I’ll be sharing those here next week.

It’s time for a new sketch from TE and this one was designed by Sankari.  It has lots and lots of possibilities!  I decided to go with the new Fruity Friends stamp set along with MME Howdy Doody 6×6 papers.

I die cut some TE Choice Snow White cardstock with the Layering Doily Die – Large, cut off where it would meet the corner of the card, and stamped the peach on it and colored with Copics.  I added some Kaisercraft rhinestones and some white liquid pearls.  I used the Majestic Border die to dress up the sentiment a little bit.

And now let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store:

I had to laugh.  As soon as I sent the photo of my card to Taylor, she sent me hers back because we made almost the same card!  We often say we share a brain.  LOL!  I hope you’ll join in the Sketch with us  over the next couple of weeks.  There are prizes up for grabs.  🙂
Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Friday! Wow!  I completed my first week as the Office Manager at Bethel Grace Baptist Church.  The week absolutley flew by and somehow I feel exhausted and exhilarated all at the same time.  Friday is my day off and it’s time to catch up on some work for TE as well as laundry and all those tasks around the house I haven’t gotten to this week.  I think it may take me a few weeks to find the groove of getting everything done, but it will happen.  🙂

It’s time for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge.  This sketch is provided by Jen Shults.  I am in need of a few belated birthday cards (shame on me!)  I love to send out birthday cards, but I never seem to get them in the mail on time.  Honestly, I should really just make all my birthdays cards with belated sentiments.  This is why I concepted the series of Belated Birthday A la Cartes (illustrated by Doug Applegate) awhile back.  For today’s card I chose Belated Birthday – Shooting Stars.

Patterned paper is MME 6×6 Miss Caroline Howdy Doody and those yummy flowers are Prima Laraine – new in the TE store.  They come in a bunch of different color packs.  I added sparkly fluff to the sheep’s body, so it has some sparkly and texture.  Kaisercraft Rhinestones are Lippy Red – one of my favorite colors.  And here’s the inside:

I hope you’ll play along with us.  You could win a gift certificate to the TE Store, or you could join us as a Guest on the Sketch Crew!  Speaking of the Sketch Crew, let’s see what they have created:

    TESC154 Easter Wreath

    March 9th, 2012

Happy Friday! It’s time for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge.  This is a very fun and super versatile sketch.  I hope you’ll play along with us as there is a prize up for grabs.

It’s funny – I really have no idea why I made an Easter card, when I went in my stamp room with the intention of creating a birthday card!  The Petite Storage Case that holds some of my TE wreath stamp sets was on the floor and the next thing you know I had an Easter card started.  LOL!

I started with some Pretty in Pink cardstock.  I embossed a 4 x 5.25″ panel with the TE Musical Swirls Impressions Plate and then inked it with white craft ink.  Then I added the patterned paper strip and the sentiment strip before cutting the window with a circle die.

The Spring Wreath was colored with Copics and then I added Glossy Accents.  It was cut out with the Seasonal Wreath Die and then popped up on foam squares.  There is part of a white doily behind the wreath. Embellishments include Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White, Baker’s Twine in 3 colors, Pebbles Button Candy Dots.

Now let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store today.  I do hope you’ll come play along with us!  Get all the deets on Taylor’s blog.

    TESC153 Sweet Stuff

    February 24th, 2012

Happy Friday!  It’s time for a new Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge.  The sketch was designed by the talented Sankari Wegman from the Baker’s Dozen.  I won’t lie…it’s kind of a doozy!  But once Taylor encouraged me to “think outside the box”, I got going and had some fun with it!

I just looked through stamp sets until something inspired me and I landed on Build a Treat with a sentiment from Sprinkled With Love.  I used a stamp-a-majig to place and build my images and I kept the card super simple.  A little Copic coloring, a little paper-piecing, some glitter, liquid pearls and glossy accents along with some wide polka red ribbon.  Easy-peasy and pretty quick too.

I hope you’ll play along with us.  You have 2 weeks to enter and TE stamps are not required.  There are a couple of chances to win prizes, so be sure to check out all the details on Taylor’s blog.  Now let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has created:

    TESC is back!

    January 27th, 2012

Happy Friday!  I’m so excited that the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge is back!  I do hope you’ll play along with us.  TE stamps are NOT required to play.  This is a great sketch with so many possiblities!

There are a few changes and you can get all the deets on how to play along with us over at Taylor’s blog.  There are still prizes up for grabs, plus we’ll also be choosing a Top Chef for each sketch.

For my sample today I grabbed Rosy Posey again.  I just can’t put it away.  Today I paired it with October Afternoon Sidewalks 8×8 papers.

After I completed the card, I realized it was quite similar to a card I made during sneak peeks a couple of weeks ago.  But I’m ok with that.  Actually I think it speaks to how good a stamp set is when you keep wanting to use it, even if it’s to make similar cards.  I used to only get a few new stamp sets maybe 3 or 4 times a  year and I would use them and use them and truly love them.  I feel bad that I have so many sets now that have only been inked up once or twice.  So I think I will keep Rosy Posey out and try to make several more cards in different color schemes with it before it gets put away.

Other supplies used on this 5″ square card include:  Cherry Cobbler cardstock, TE dies – Large Layering Doily, Mini Leaves, Spellbinders Circle Die, Viva Ice White Pearl Pen, Little Whimsy Rose,  Cherry Cobbler ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, a white paper doily, and heart stick pins. (All available from TE except for the few SU supplies used.)

Let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store:

I am off to CHA (the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show for my non-stamper friends) tomorrow afternoon.  I’ll try to post some photos early next week.  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a great weekend and make some time to stamp with the TESC!
