May Stamp Class is Coming!

April 30th, 2011

Happy Saturday!  I hope you are having a great weekend!  Next week promises to be very busy with the Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks, Newsletter and Release among other things, so this morning I took a little time to play in my stamp room.  I created one of the cards we’ll be making in my May Stamp Class – It’s a Frame Up!  The class will focus on three different simple framing techniques that you’ll want to use over and over again!  For this card I used the Faux Framing Technique – so simple, yet so PRETTY!

It’s a Frame Up!

SC330 Bright Hello

April 27th, 2011

Happy Wednesday!  I had a chance this morning to make a card for the Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC330) using one of the images I colored on vacation a few weeks ago.

My card feataures elements from the TE Sprimg Project Pantry as well as stamp sets Hello Spring and the new You’re My Type – Lower from Taylored Expressions.  Letters were stamped and punched out with a 1/2″  circle punch, edged with Rose Red ink and covered with Glossy Accents.  They were then layered onto a die cut pennant (TE Pennant Die).

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Easter Table Decor

April 25th, 2011

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend!  Ours was jammed packed!  Easter started out with a beautiful church service featuring an inspiring musical presentation by the choir (including my hubby) and orchestra as well as a message presented by Pastor Jeff.

Immediately after church we ran home to pop the egg casseroles in the oven and finish preparations for a brunch in our backyard for 14 people.  It rained while we were at church, so the tablecloths were thrown in the dryer and we debated about moving the party inside.  Fortunately the sun came out and we went back to plan A!  As we were getting set up I took some photos of the table decor.

My friend JulieHRR posted a link on Facebook to last minute Easter decorations on Thursday or Friday of last week and it was just the fun inspiration I needed!  I love the way everything turned out!

I purchased the large jars and the little favor jars at Cost Plus Imports along with the grass/shred.  I picked up the candy eggs. peeps, and bunnies at Target.  The little canning jars were in my cupboard and I just had to fill them with peeps bunnies.  Tags were created with TE stamps – Hello Spring and Easter Joy.  The large jar centerpieces were set on top of inverted glass bowls filled with orange Easter grass. Funny little thing about the larger centerpiece…when I started to put it all together I discovered that the white chocolate bunny was too wide to fit into the mouth of the jar.  Oops!  I was dejected, until I realized I could do surgery with a pair of kitchen shears.  LOL!  I just kept trimming till that bunny butt until it fit into the jar!

I forgot to take a photo of the buffet table, but I had a smaller version of the centerpiece there surrounded by jars and champagne flutes filled with candy.  After taking these photos, the camera got put back in the house and I was bummed when I realized last night that I never took any people pictures.  Gosh – I used to be so much better about that!  It was a wondersul day with friends and family and worth all the effort that went into it!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Easter Train

April 21st, 2011

Happy Thursday!  Just a quick post to share a really simple Easter card I made featuring an image from TE Hello Spring that I colored while on vacation.  I so so so love that stamp set along with the companion set Easter Joy!   DP is We R Memory Keepers from the TE Spring Project Pantry.  I used Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch (SSSC112), but I’m a week late on that. I printed out several sketches to use and then didn’t get any of them done during the challenge weeks.  I almost set them aside, and then realized that was really dumb.  If it’s a sketch I want to play with, what does it matter if I meet a deadline with it?

I’m hoping to actually get a few Easter cards in the mail this afternoon. Seems like every year I make an Easter card or two, but never mail them.  This year I have made several, so I plan to gather them all up and get them out!  I have a very busy day ahead, so we’ll see.

I hope you have a great day.  Thanks for stopping by.

It’s time for the monthly TE customer blog hop – Blast From the Past where we get a chance to showcase much loved older TE stamp sets.  The theme for this month’s hop is Clean and Simple.  Now, you know that theme skeered me a bit…I mean look at the title of my blog.  I’m just not a CAS girl.  I appreciate it for sure, but do it?  Not so much!  That being said, I’m pretty happy with how my card turned out.

My card features Easter Blessings – a beautiful set that was released last Spring.  What you can’t fully appreciate in the photo is the fact that the white cardstock is Shimmer White – which is my all-time favorite.  It’s so pretty, such a soft subtle sparkle!  The cross was heat embossed with a caribbean chalk ink and clear embossing powder before being die cut with Spellbinders Labels 18 (my new fave) and sponged with Banana ink.  The image panel is popped up on foam squares.   I scored the cardbase with my Scor-pal for a little extra added interest.

I’m so looking forward to walking into church Sunday morning and joining in the cry of “He is risen indeed!”

Now it’s time to check out the rest of the hoppers and see what they’ve done with this CAS theme!

Taylored Expressions is bursting at the seams with so much sweet rubber that we couldn’t fit it all in the regular monthly release.  I’m super excited to get to play along with the Baker’s Dozen today as we reveal 3 new stamp sets – Labels of Love, You’re My Type – Upper and You’re My Type Lower.  And as if that weren’t enough, you are going to LOVE the fact that these new sets are designed to coordinate with Spellbinders Dies!  Everything we are showing you is available NOW in the TE Store – no waiting!!

We also want to take this opportunity to express a HUGE thank you to Spellbinders who generously provided our team withh Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machines.  WOW!!  The large format of this machine makes it perfect for the Grand size dies as well as running multiple dies for a project through all at the same time.

My sample today is a set of cards that showcases the brand new stamp set Labels of Love designed by Taylor Van Bruggen as part of the *te* Collection of stamps.  Labels of Love coordinates perfectly with Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio Three die set.  It includes a whopping 31 images (7 frames, 6 flourishes, and 18 sentiments.)  I really think that once you get your crafty little hands on this set, it’s going to be left out on your stamping table as your go-to set for sentiments!  Click here to purchase the Labels of Love Bundle including the matching dies.

To get started today I pulled out the Emma’s Shoppe Taylored Card Kit and played with it until I got the papers and cardstocks I wanted to work with for this set.

There are so many choices in these TE Card Kits, that I like to narrow them down a bit before I start even though I do sometimes change my mind as I go along. After making a set of 6 cards, I stillhave tons of materials left and am anxious to see what else I can create.  Using this kit and Labels of Love, here’s the card set I came up with. Click on any photo to see it larger.

There are 2 basic designs, with 3 of each of those (with some variations.)   I used 2 different frames from Labels of Love along with several different sentiments that fit in those frames – Just a Note, With Love, Missing You, Thanks so much!

For the top set above I let the fame and sentiment be the focal point.  These cards would be super quick to make in multiples for gift sets.  On both designs I used the large Scallop Border Taylored Die.

For the top set in the above photo I layered Spellbinders Labels 18 (red) on top of Labels 13 (yellow), then stamped a focal image and punched it with 1 3/4″ circle punch and layered that on top.  I love the look of layering different shapes like this – such a simple technique to add a little pizazz!  Focal points were stamped from Branching Out, Fresh Flowers and CreativiTea and colored with copics (tea cup was paper-pieced.)

This set is also for the TE Card Kit Challenge I posted in the Taylored Expressions Forum.  Have you purchased either the Emma’s Shoppe or Hello Luscious Card Kit?  If you haven’t, you still have time.  You have through April 29th to show us your card set (4 cards or more) made from either kit and be entered to win the TE stamp set of your choice!  It’s easy and it’s fun and you’ll end up with a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day or Teacher Appreciation or an upcoming birthday,  Or maybe you just need a stash of birthday or thank you cards.  Come play with us!

The Baker’s Dozen will have lots more samples of Labels of Love as well as the two new Alphabet sets You’re My Type Upper and Lower.  Let’s go check it out!

One more piece of news you’ll want to know – TE has the brand new Spellbinders Nested Pennants Dies and Lacey Pennants Dies available  at 30% OFF while supplies last…that’s only $13.99 a set….WOWZAS!!!  Get ’em while you can!

Thanks for stopping by.
