June Class Cards

Happy Monday. I held my monthly stamp class on Friday night and this month we focused on Stampin’ Up! I have two cards to share with you and they are both created with Gingham Garden dsp. I have a SU order going in today and I’m trying to convince myself that I don’t need another pack of this paper. I just adore it so much! I really have to say that this new SU catalog is the best one they’ve produced in several years.

Both of these samples were created while we were camping in Malibu. Before I left I did some searching and printed out some inpsiration photos to work from. The first card was inspired by one I found on Pinterest by Amy O’Neill. I switched the papers around to work with the ribbon I had available. This card is so simple and I love the happy look of it! The stamp set is Label Love.

For the second card I wanted to use For the Birds and continue with the Gingham Garden papers. I found a card on SCS created Cindy Hall that was the perfect inspiration. I used some of the matching washi tape and colored a pearl with a Copic marker. Cardstock is Night of Navy and the ribbon is Daffodil seam binding.

Isn’t it sweet? I think the girls had fun making these on Friday. 🙂

I needed to get my Stampin’ Up! order figured out this weekend. I still use mostly SU cardstock, ink and ribbon even with all the TE supplies I create with. Teaching a class once a month means that I need to have plenty of cardstock and ribbon on hand so that when I come up with a class sample, I already have the supplies I need to to prep multiples. With the new SU color resfresh and the fact that I had not reorganized my cardstock drawers in a few years, it was a little bit of a daunting task to take stock. I spent about two hours organizing my cardstock and I even went on ebay and ordered a brand new set of file folder labels for all the SU colors (new and old). Feels so good to be back on the organization path again with all of that. My stamp room has lots more organizing projects to be done, but that was a big one! Now I will have a place to put all that pretty new paper when it arrives!

Camping Stamping

We spent 5 nights last week on a beautiful bluff in Malibu. We took the 5th wheel, the dogs, lots of food, and a bunch of stamping supplies! It was awesome! Here’s a look at my RV stamping desk.

It’s a tight space, but works great! The hardest part is always deciding what to bring. I have a class coming up this Friday and we’ll be focusing on Stampin’ Up! this month so I brought a lot of SU stuff including the new Gingham Garden dsp which I am in love with! When I started to stamp, the first thing I looked for was a good sketch to play with and I was immediately drawn to Jen’s DS105.

I hate to say this, but I bought this stamp set – SU For the Birds – last year and never inked it up. I played with it quite a bit last week and hope to play with it even more. It’s darling! The scallop border, fishtale banner and tiny tag are all TE dies. The little rhinestones started out clear and I colored them with a Copic marker. I have more cards to share, but for now I will leave you with the view we had out of our window last week.

Can you feel the ocean breeze? Ahhh! I’m back to work this week and scrambling to get my head back in the game. It always takes me several days to recover from vacation! HA! Thanks for stopping by!

Taylored Expressions June Release Day: Patriotic Set

Happy Thursday and Happy Release Day! Today all of the new products at Taylored Expressions are available for your shopping pleasure. No need to try to resist…your husband said it’s ok to go ahead and get whatever is calling your name! 😉

Today I have a set of 5 cards to share with you. They were all created with the Ray of Sunshine Cutting Plate and the Patriotic Project Pantry (kit of solid cardstock, patterned papers, and ribbon.)

So, this started as the set of 3 at the top. I used the cutting plate with 3 different patterns of paper and 3 pieces of white cardstock As long as I was cutting 3 sheets of paper, I might as well use all the pieces and make 3 card backgrounds. I honestley had no idea what else I would do, I just started by focusing on those backgrounds. Well, then I had the frame pieces left from the 3 different patterned papers and didn’t want to waste them, so I adhered each of them to solid cardstock for 3 more backgrounds. (Yes, I know only 2 are pictured here. I just didn’t like the end result of one of my cards and decided not to photograph it. So shoot me! maybe I’ll work on it some more and post it another day.)

This first pair, was my first idea with these – showcasing the Graphic Greeting Patriotic A la Carte Stamp die cut with Spellbinders rectangle and scallop rectangle dies. I’m not going to lie, it was a little fussy putting these 3 backgrounds together. It wasn’t at all difficult, just a little tedious, but well-worth it. This die really gives a dynamite result! Have you seen the samples this week? Oh my!

Here’s my method for using this cutting plate with 3 patterns:

Die cut 3 Ray of Sunshine frames from a coordinating or neutral cardstock. I used white.
Select coordinating colored cardstock and create 3 cardbases. Adhere your die cut frames to your card bases. I used the green pen PLUS Tape Runner which is perfect for these. (currently out of stock – sorry.)
lay out your 3 cardbases with frames side by side near your die cutting machine.
Die cut your first patterned paper with the cutting plate and place the pieces in all 3 frames. Alternating the spots, leaving 2 blank after each one. Do not adhere them at this point.
Repeat with the other two patterns of paper.
When you get to the end you will have teo patterns next to each other. Simply trade around that last piece among the 3 cards. This is why you did not want to adhere as you went.
Now you are ready to adhere. I used tweezers to handle the little insert pieces and Tombow Mono Multi.

For the card above, I used a sentiment from Labels of Love with the Band It Die and some Rouge Glitter Tape. At church we put on a BIG patriotic musical and country fair event at the end of June. It takes a huge team effort, so I thought these would make great thank you notes for the Pastor to send all the team leaders.

Here’s another simple Thank You. This sentiment is from the Stars & Stripes petite set. More of that set below.

And finally, here is the last card which features Stars & Stripes and comes with this awesome die of the USA! I colored the stamp with SU markers and then die cut it. The border is Reach for the Stars and the sentiment once again uses the Band It die.

Oh my gosh – I really love this Project Pantry! In fact, I’m considering ordering another one, even though I’m no where near done with the first one! Once I got done with this set, I had so many other ideas!

Taylored Expressions June Sneak Peeks: The Beach

Happy Tuesday! I’m here to play along with the sneak peeks for the Taylored Expressions June Release. Everything you see today will be available for purchase on Thursday morning at 8 am PST. I have two cards to share with you today and both of them take us to the beach!

First up is a set I requested – Ride the Wave. I have always loved the style of You’re My Hero and have used it for a lot of “guy cards”. Being a SoCal girl and having a boss who is a surfer has made me yearn for a surf set in the same style as You’re My Hero, so Nancy McKinney obliged with Ride the Wave. This set is all aboout pure stamping – solid stamping – no coloring needed. My card is super simple (which I think is perfect for a guy!) Oh and there are surfboards too…and a matching die for them!

I used SU inks and cardstock (Cool Caribbean, Wild Wasabi, Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Real Red) and some American Crafts red glitter tape for a little sizzle. It just doesn’t get simpler than that.

My second card is all about Taylored Dies, specifically the new Beach Border Die along with the Band It Die released last month. This Beach Border was Wanda’s brainchild and came up in a discussion around the dinner table with the team at CHA. When I opened my box from TE this month, the very first thing I had to do was try out this fabulous die. I’m looking forward to playing with it lots more.

The beach border was cut out of deep purple (SU Concorde Crush) cardstock. One of the cool things about this die is that it doesn’t have a bottom – so you can make the beach as deep or shallow as you like. I used the Band It Die to feature the sentiment is from the Greetings For Him stamp set. The sunset was sponged onto glossy cardstock. First I looked up images of beach sunsets on Google image. There are so many different color combos for beautiful sunsets. I chose a picture with yellows and oranges and pinks, with an edging of purple. So pretty! I took some pictures of the sponging process along the way. Let me know if you’re interested in seeing this process. I can post the pictures if you are. I really love the way this turned out and it’s so easy!
