Martha Stewart SFYTT

November 17th, 2012

Tonight I whipped up a quick card using Jen’s November SFYTT.  This card is for the gal who volunteered to make our new drapes in the church office refresh.  I’m horribly tardy in getting this out, but I’ve had very specific stamps in mind and I finally looked through my stash and found them. This sketch worked perfectly for what I had in mind.

Here are the supplies I used including two stamp sets from Taylored Expressions – What’s Cookin’ and Sew Happy.

I just love that sentiment and I think it’s so much better than a simple “thank you”!

It’s Release Day at Taylored Expressions!  YEA!   All of the new Taylored Expressions products are now available in the Fresh Out of the Oven Department. Be sure to check the TE Current Specials page to find out how you can get the Crafty Expressions stamp set for FREE!!  It’s such a great little set that all stampers should have, I think!
The Baker’s Dozen has samples to share of 2 new sets that haven’t been previewed yet:  Welcome Gnome and Garden Shed.  They are both illustrated by Doug Applegate for the Apple Doodle Ink collection at TE.  My card features Welcome Gnome, a super adorable full size set.  I’m laughing at myself as I type this because I just noticed that my card looks like our blog hop badge, which is funny because I stamped the images on my card BEFORE we got the badge!  LOL!
My card is 5″ square and features paper from the MME 6×6 pad Gnome Sweet Gnome.  That paper pad is sooooo perfect for this stamp set!  I had fun creating the little scene by stamping the different elements from the set and coloring with Copics.  Then I die cut it with the new Label Stacklets 2 Dies – this is such a great shape!  I used the Cloud Border Die at the bottom for a whimsical touch and I die cut Grass Green felt with the Grass Border Die for some fun texture.  The little sign was paper-pieced and covered in Crackle Accents.
Here’s a look at the inside of the card.
I just had to use the sentiment “It’s not a home without a gnome” for one of my friends who is crazy about gnomes!  Again, I used the new Label Stacklets 2 Die set.  I’m so anxious to see what everyone else created for today.  Let’s check it out!
Thanks so much for stopping by.  The girls will have even more inspiration tomorrow with all of the new stuff!
Let the Sneak Peeks Begin! It’s Release Week at Taylored Expressions and we have so many new things to show you!  We have inspiration to share Tuesday through Friday.  All of the new products will be available for purchase on Thursday, November 8th at 8 am PST. You’ll find it all in the Fresh out of the Oven Department at the Taylored Expressions Store.
The set I am sharing today is called In the Word.  It is a full-size set in the Lasting Impressions collection and it coordinates with the Bookmark Die.  When TE first came out with Mark Your Spot and the Bookmark Die a few months ago, I was excited to play with them.  The first thing that came to mind as I did, was how great it would be to have a Bible verse set to go with the bookmark die.  I immediately imagined making up little gifts and favors for friends and co-workers with it.  I sent of a quick e-mail to Taylor asking if we could have such a set and she said YES!  I absolutley ADORE this set.  I love the variety of fonts and flourishes making these verses perfect for bookmarks, as well as focal points on cards and framed art.  Here’s my first project with this set.
I wanted to start with a really simple bookmark that could easily be re-created and even mass-produced. Here’s a close-up:
Here’s what I did to create this:
  • Die cut the bookmark twice – once out of TE Choice Snow white cardstock and once out of a dark blue cs to use as the backer.
  • Sponged color on the white bookmark.  I used my very favorite sponging color combo: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Cameo Coral, Regal Rose.
  • Stamped the verse and the flourish images.
  • Covered the whole bookmark in Versamark ink and het embossed with UTEE.  It gives a super shiny and pebbled finish.
  • Attached the backer and the ribbon.  Added the flower embellishment.
This was super simple and would look great in a variety of color combos.  There’s lots and lots to see today, so let’s check out what the Baker’s Dozen has cooked up:
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be sure to get out and vote today!

This month marks the One Year Anniversary of the Embracing Grace collection of stamps at Taylored Expressions illustrated by Emily Burger.  To celebrate, the Baker’s Dozen is highlighting Emily’s very first set Love Grows Here.  This stamp set was introduced last November and it continues to be one of my faves.  Each and every image is adorable and the set can be used year-round!  Here’s my card for Emily.

My card is 5″ square and features paper from the Cosmo Cricket 8×8 Mini Deck – S’more Love.  The sketch is Karen’s SSSC171.  The die cut shapes are a little peek of new Stacklets from the upcoming TE November Release (more about those tomorrow on Taylor’s blog.)  I colored the image with copics and then sponged on some Distress Ink before covering the whole panel with Versamark and heat embossing with Kaleidescope embossing powder.  It’s so hard to capture in a photo, but it makes the panel so super sparkly and pretty!

I wanted to use the sentiment “you make me smile” (because all of Emily’s work does indeed do that!), but I couldn’t seem to make it work on the front, so I used it inside instead.  I honestly love everything Emily does, but I have to admit to being a little partial to Bikes & Trikes and Let’s Chat as those are two of my concepts that Emily brought to life so wonderfully!  Here are a few cards I’ve posted before featuring Bikes & Trikes and Let’s Chat (click on them to see them larger):

Emily has donated two sets of mirror cards from her etsy store to go to one lucky winner (so you can keep one and give one as a gift.)  The winner will be chosen by a random drawing from all of the comments left on all the posts in today’s blog hop (One comment per blog, please.) and will be announced in Taylor’s blog post tomorrow morning.  So let’s check out what the Baker’s Dozen has cooked up and be sure to leave some love along the way!
