TESC150 Triple Prize Celebration

November 11th, 2011

Happy Veterans Day!  Today Taylor presents her 150th Sketch Challenge and she chose a sketch I submitted.  Coming up with sketch ideas is NOT my strong point, so I always feel so proud when I come up with something I like – let alone something anyone else likes.  LOL!

Since we’re celebrating the 150th Sketch, Taylor is doing something EXTRA SPECIAL!  There will be THREE random winners drawn from among all the participants in TESC150 and each winner will receive one full size TE stamp set!  How cool is that?  You can get all the details on Taylor’s blog!  Here’s the sketch –

It’s funny because this sketch came from a card I made quite awhile back and seemed to me very specific to the images I had used.  So when I started to work on my card for today I thought I would have trouble finding something that would work well.  However once I started going through stamp sets, I actually had too many ideas!  LOL!  So I’m hoping to get a chance to make a couple more cards with this sketch in the next week or so.

For today’s card I went with Fall A la Carte.  Just can’t resist those cute little squirrells!  This layout really works for all the Word A la Cartes.

I colored the image with copics and covered the letters with Ranger Crackle Accents.  The sentiment is from the Autumn Wreath Petite set.  I used the Mini Leaves Taylored Die set to die cut some leaf accents that work perfectly with this image.  The paper I used is from the MME Stella & Rose- Mabel 6×6 pad along with SU cardstock Cajun Craze and Sage Shadow.  I colored some ivory seam binding with a Copic marker.

Since we’re celebrating a milestone sketch, Taylor asked the Sketch Crew to also post one of our favorite sketches from the past.  I had fun looking through my old creations and eventually chose my sample for TECC62 (yep it’s so old that it was called the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge back then!).  This card is actually one of my all-time favorite cards and I still have it.

This card features one of my all-time favorite sets Branching Out.  (It looks like TE still has a few of the untrimmed versions of this set and they are on sale – check it out!!)  This card just makes me smile.  Here’s the sketch – I think it’s a good one.

And now let’s see what the Sketch Crew has in store today:

  • Cassie Trask
  • Lisa Hjulberg
  • Lori Craig
  • Margie Cortina

  • Happy Friday!  My post today is doing double duty as I am hosting the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge over ta Splitcoaststampers and I’m participating with the Sketch Crew in Taylor’s TESC149.  I hope you’ll join in both challenges.

My challenge is to create a Christmas or Winter card using any shade of pink as a primary color in your design.

If you’re not familiar with Hope You Can Cling To, it is an annual card drive held during the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) to benefit the UT MD Cancer Center in Texas.  You make cards and mail them to the Cancer Center to be used for breast cancer patients and their families.  There are tons of sponsors (TE is one of them) and lots of prizes up for grabs.  There have been  new challenges posted every day for the month of October, so surely you can find a few that grab you and make you want to stamp!  Check it out!

My card today features Penguin Pals and Echo Park Holly Jolly Christmas 6×6 papers along with cardstock in Espresso, Wasabi and Pixie Pink.

I’ve embellished with some Liquid Pearls in 2 colors, some Sugar Sparkly Fluff, Smooch Paint, pink pom pom trim, a piece of a doily and some faux stitching.

Here’s the sketch I started with:

    September 23rd, 2011

Happy Friday!  What on earth happened?  I had grand plans of stamping and blogging every day this week….hmmmmm.  Well at least I didn’t miss the new Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge!  This is another really good one with tons of possibilities. I hope you’ll play along with us.  TE stamps are NOT required to play and there is a prize up for grabs by random draw.

Here’s my card featuring Embrace Beauty along with gorgeous elements from the MME Lush collection.

I created this card to coordinate with a paper bag album that we made in my class last week.  I hope to have photos and a video of that project up tomorrow.  For my card I stamped the image onto patterned paper with Chocolate Chip Craft ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder before die cutting with a circle Nestabilities.  That was layered onto a mat die cut with Lacey Circles.  The scallop was created with the TE Medium Scallop Border Die.  The little element in the upper left corner was created with two SU oval punches and a big pearl brad.  I added some piercing, taffeta ribbon and chocolate liquid pearls.  The sentiment is from Celebrate Life.

This is an anniversary card for a very special couple, so I will finish off the inside with anniversary wishes.  Now let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great weekend.  I’ll be back soon (in a day or so) with the paper bag book.

Happy Friday!  It’s time for a new Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge and I know you’ll really like this one.  Lots and lots of possibilities!  I decided to use the Crafty Petite set Sew Happy.  I love the Crafty Petites, but I’m ashamed to say that I had not ever inked this set before.  SEW glad to finally make some time to use it!  (Sorry for the photo – I was running late and had to take this at night.)

My card is 4.25″ square and I used the smallest die in the Spellbinders Labels 9 set for my images.  The images were stamped on TE Choice Buttercream cardstock and sponged with Crumb Cake ink while still in the die, then colored with Copics.  The middle image is popped up on double thick 1/8″ foam tape.  I used Want2Scrap Baby Bling Pearls for the heads of the pins – they are perfect!  Patterned papers are from the MME Lost & Found Two Blush 6×6 pad – I think this is my current favorite paper!  I added a Webster’s Pages Little Whimsy flower on top of the bow for that special little sumthin’-sumthin’.

Now lets’ see what the rest of the Sketch Crew came up with:

I hope you’ll give this sketch a try.  TE stamps are not required to play and there is a prize drawing!  You have two weeks to enter.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

    TESC145 From the Whole Herd

    August 26th, 2011

Happy Friday!  It’s time for another Taylored Expresison Sketch Challenge and I hope you’ll play along.  TE stamps are not required. You have two weeks to play and one lucky player will be drawn to win a gift certificate to the TE Store!

Today’s sketch came from Crew Member Rachel Sztonyk.

I pulled out Green Acres and the August Key Ingredients featuring Echo Park Country Drive.  When Green Acres was in development, I remember being excited to stack the animals on top of each other.  But then when the set came I had so many ideas for it, I just never got around to doing that.  So this card is a long time coming.

Images are colored with copics and I sponged some Baja Breeze ink around them.  I used the Picket Fence Taylored Die for the element on the right side of the sketch.  Spellbinders used are Labels 4 and Wonky Rectangles.  I just wasn’t happy with the card and kept staring at it until I realized it needed a very narrow black layer to make it pop.  Yep, that did the trick.  Embellishments are Stickles (yellow and fruit punch), KaiserCraft black pearls, and a couple of buttons from my stash.

Now let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store:

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    July 22nd, 2011

Happy Friday!  I hope you checked out the CHA Specials at Taylored Expressions.  If you haven’t seen them yet, you can scroll down one post for all the deets.  It’s time for a new Taylored expressions Sketch Challenge (every 2nd and 4th Friday).  This sketch was designed by the wonderful Lori Craig.

It’s really a pretty easy and versatile sketch, but I can’t say that I’m overaly thrilled with my card.  I guess you just can’t love ’em all.

I pulled out some older October Afternoon papers and paired them up with Basic Gray cardstock and tafetta ribbon.  My card features TE stamp sets Rest & Renewal and Discover Your Wings as well as a little snippet of the Picket Fence Die (which is on sale this weekend)  covered in Sparkly Fluff.  Some yellow Liqquid Pearls finish it off.

We would love it if you’d come and play along.  All the info is on Taylor’s blog and in the TE Forum on SCS (TESC143).  Each sketch has a prize up for grabs.  TE stamps are NOT required to play, but there’s a little extra prize available if you do use them.  Let’s see what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store today:

    TESC142 Hello

    July 8th, 2011

Happy Friday!  It’s time for another Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge. This week’s sketch was designed by Sketch Crew member Lori Criag and has lots of fun possibilities for creative interpretation!  I’m usually pretty literal when it comes to following a sketch, but I took a few liberties with this one.  😉

I wanted something kind of CAS so I went with a white panel on a white base and stamped the new Hello A la Carte image and colored it with Copics to match the paper from the MME 6×6 Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky pad.  The paper was die cit with the Large Scallop Border Taylored Die.  I added the Pennant A la Carte  image in Rich Razzleberry ink. Corners were rounded with the Corner Chomper and I added some piercing.   Super simple!

Now let’s check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has created with this sketch:

Did you know that Taylor has a prize up for grabs for each sketch?  You can win a gift certificate to the TE Store just for uploading your take on the sketch to the gallery on SCS and using keyword TESC142.  And you know TE stamps are NOT required to play.

It’s been a busy week and I have a very busy day ahead.  Hoping to unplug and relax some tomorrow.  I hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.
