Enabler Alert!

June 4th, 2007

If you have a Tuesday Morning in your area you might want to check them out tomorrow (June 5th).  The ad I’m looking at shows Rolling Craft and Paper Totes for $49.99 (compare at $129.99).  From the photo it looks like Crop in Style brand.  They are also advertising Fiskars Scrapbooking Tools $7.99 to $34.99 (compare at 19.99 to $75).  The photo shows several paper cutters and punches.  One more thing of interest – Verilux Desk Lamp $39.99 (compare at $89.95) designed to emulate natural daylight.  I’m not familiar with this brand – so I’m not sure how it compares to an Ott Lite, but I couldn’t live without my OTT.  If Verilux is anything like OTT, that’s a great deal…and the picture shows a very stylish model.  Happy Shopping.  I’ll be back later to share a card. 🙂

Cool Copper

April 21st, 2007

This week the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoast is Heavy Metal – using metal on cards.  I can never pass up a chance to run copper sheeting through my Cuttlebug, so this week I combined that challenge with the Ways to Use it Challenge (make a bday card using animals in 45 minutes or less).

The main image is another one of my new Whipper Snapper stamps – Spunky Pup.  He was smaller than I expected, but he’s the perfect size for this layout from some cards I saw on Michelle Wooderson’s blog that I just loved!  You can get full recipe info for this card here.

Curt helped me find copper sheeting awhile back after my friend Val said her husband brought her some  home from work.  Mine came from McMaster-Carr – just put in the part number in the search box – 8944K24.  The sheets are 6″ x 12″ (thickness is .0028″) so you can get 3 full card fronts from a sheet or even more if you are doing partial fronts like on this card.  They come in packs of 25 for $28.34.  With shipping mine worked out to about $1.40 a sheet (so about .30 – .50 per card).  They emboss really nicely with the A2 folders.  I attach them to my cards with my Scotch ATG gun.

Here’s another one I did a couple of month’s ago.  It was Curt’s Valentine and I rubbed the copper with Stazon ink.  The base of the card is copper cardstock.  Full recipe here.

I have 2 more copper cards in my SCS gallery:

Bella Birthday  – for the life of me I can’t seem to find this one in my picture files to post here.  I really need to get those more organized.

and

Copper Martini – this one is in a Dirty Dozen Fan Club Gallery, so you’ll only be able to view it if you’re a member.  If you frequent SCS I highly recommend you join the Fan Club to support the site.

The copper is so much fun to work with.  I want to try it with a bunch more folders!  If you decide to try it. let me know.  I’d love to see what you come up with!

Score!

Today was a busy day out and about starting with the dentist, and then shopping for something to wear on Easter (that was very discouraging! 🙁 ), stopping at the cleaners, etc. I had promised my Uncle that I would wrap a package for him to take to a 50th anniversary party he will be attending this week, so I decided to run into Tuesday Morning (yep, it’s a store – we only recently got one in our area) hoping to find a nice gift bag. Well indeed I did find a nice gift bag, tissue and ribbon but waaaaaayyyyy better than that….I got an awesome rolling craft tote in bright pink for $29.99!!!!

I know it’s hard to believe I didn’t already have one – I must be the last stamper on earth! I have been looking at them for 2 or 3 years. The thing that has stopped me each time is storage space. We have a real storage issue in our 2 bedroom, 1 bath house built in the 40’s. So each time I find a tote I think I want, I begin to wonder where I will put it and I’m done. However this was a deal I just couldn’t pass up!

It came with everything you see in the picture. The tote is approximately 17″ x 17″ x 10″. It looked quite a bit bigger once I got it home than it did in the store – maybe because I truly have no place to put it! *roll eyes* It has zippered pockets on 3 sides and tons of velcro-in vinyl zipper pouches for all kinds of little doo-dads and what-nots. 🙂 A three piece set in bright pink for only $29.99!!! As my friend Joy would say “It’s practically free”. I also saw them in green and purple, but I think they only had 2 left. They also had a couple in the faux leather (one of the big brands – I can’t remember what it was) and I think they were maybe $50 or $60. Tuesday Morning (if you’ve never been to one) is one of those close-out stores and they put out new items on Tuesdays. If you have one in your area I’d highly suggest you check it out – all kinds of fun bargains to be had! Happy shopping!!!

PS Blog candy coming soon 🙂
