Happy Saturday!  I hope you are having a great weekend.  I mentioned yesterday that I made two samples for my DTGD Challenge.  I wanted to share my second sample with you today.

This card is SUO (oh except for the KaiserCraft black rhinestones.)  I’m planning a Stampin’ Up! Class for August 19th so of course I had to order some new stuff!  The first set I wanted from the new catty was Button Buddies.  I just thought the images were all sooooo cute!  For todays’ card I paired it with a new SU sentiment set – Pursuit of Happiness.  The sentiments in this set just spoke to me and I wanted it immediately!  Cardstock used here is Limeade and Black.  I used rhe rock’n’roll inking technique with various colors of ink on these flowers.  I used an embossing folder over just part of the image panel to add some textural interest.

So have you guessed yet what my challenge is?  If your a Splitcoast Fan Club Member please come play!

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Friday!  It is my turn to host a Dare to Get Dirty Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers!  If you’re already a Fan Club Member and playing along this week, you can just scroll down to my sample and then come on over and play.  However, if you have no idea what I’m talking about, allow me to explain.

SCS is the biggest stamping community on the web and membership has always been free.  Back in the day when it was owned by it’s creator, Daven Nolta, and the growth of the membership exploded it started getting expensive to maintain.  Daven insisted on keeping the site free, but members began to make donations to keep things running.  This is how the Fan Club was born.  And as a thank you to the Fan Club Members, the Dirty Dozen Design Team was formed.  This is a team of 12 talented designers who create projects for a specially themed gallery each month that is only available to Fan Club Members.  Dirty Girls consider it a huge honor to be asked to serve a 6 month term on the team.

I was lucky enough to be on the Dirty Dozen back in 2006.  The first Dare to Get Dirty week was held in the Summer of 2007 to give Fan Club Member a chance to play along and chat with DD Alumni.  It was a huge hit and has been held every Summer ever since.  We host several challenges every day for a week and you can play as few or as many as you’d like.   If you’re interested in becoming a Fan Club Member you can get all the info by clicking here.

Here’s the first sample for my challenge.  Can you guess what the challenge is?

You’re probably not shocked that I used the new Taylored Expressions set Embrace Beauty, huh?  I’m just a little stuck on this set at the moment. (Although I did also make a 2nd SUO sample, that I will share tomorrow.)  I was so excited to receive the Echo Park Victoria Gardens 6×6 pad in the mail the other day!  I have been chomping at the bit to get this pad and I was NOT disapointed!  It is GORGEOUS!  Here I’ve paired it with SU Pear and Black cardstocks.  Other supplies used are Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Doily Motifs die, Kaiser Craft black pearls and Smooch Illuminate (all from TE).  I just love how this turned out!

Don’t forget – there is still time to win your favorite stamp set from the Taylored Expressions.  Just pop in to the TE Forum and let us know which new set is your fave and you’ll be entered to win.  You have through Saturday night at 6 pm PST to enter.

I hope you’ll come on over to SCS and play in my challenge.  It’s a pretty easy one, I think.  😉  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Thursday!  I’m excited to be playing in the Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past Customer Blog Hop.  This is a chance to feature some of the TE stamps that have been around for awhile (more than 3 months.)  I love to play in this hop because it’s so easy to caught up in the newest stuff – it’s great to have a reason to get out some of my favorites.  Today’s theme is Old Glory – the color combo of red, white and blue in any shade.  I’m also entering this card in the Paper Crafts Color Inspiration Challenge #6.  How fun that the 2 challenges worked together!

I used the optional sketch provided bythe incredible Sankari Wegman and my card features the TE stamp set What’s Cookin’? along with the coordinating Apron Taylored Die.  Designer paper is Webster’s Pages with SU cardstock Real Red, Basic Black and Cool Caribbean (I still have a stash of that color and sometimes just nothing else will do!).  White cardstock is TE Choice Snow White.  This color combo of caribbean blue and red always makes me think retro…and especially retro kitchen. 🙂

Let’s see what everyone else has done with red, white and blue…

SC330 Bright Hello

April 27th, 2011

Happy Wednesday!  I had a chance this morning to make a card for the Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC330) using one of the images I colored on vacation a few weeks ago.

My card feataures elements from the TE Sprimg Project Pantry as well as stamp sets Hello Spring and the new You’re My Type – Lower from Taylored Expressions.  Letters were stamped and punched out with a 1/2″  circle punch, edged with Rose Red ink and covered with Glossy Accents.  They were then layered onto a die cut pennant (TE Pennant Die).

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Birthday Jodi!!

December 27th, 2010

Today we’re celebrating the birthday of the FABULOUS Jodi Collins!!!  If you’ve come here from Joanne Basile’s blog, you’re on the right track.  If you just happened by today, then you might want to hop back over to our hostess Karen Motz’s blog to start from the beginning.

Here’ the card I created for Jodi using SSSC97 (Karen Giron’s Sweet Sunday Sketch from last week.) Click on it to see it larger.

This card is 9.25″ x 4″ to fit in a standard business size envelope and I had tons of fun with it.  I even got out a full sized background stamp and used it…yes I said background stamp…remember those?  The cute little baker girl is from MFT as is the felt and the rolled rose die (pretty sure I didn’t use that die correctly, but I did end up with a flower of some sort – LOL!)  Most of the rest of the card elements (including designer paper and stamps) are SU.  To get the strip of punched paper ribbon behind the girl’s legs I just cut slits with a craft knife and slippped it in.  The awning is made with the Word Window Punch and 2 different sheets of patterned paper. Final touch is Bisque Liquid Pearls.  I just love the new LP formulation!  It’s even pearlier than before and I find I don’t have as much issue with it forming little points.

JodiI am so happy to call you friend and feel so lucky that I’ve actually had the chance to meet you in person!  I wish we weren’t on opposite coasts…and if you were close by I’d really bake something for you…today you’ll have to settle for papercrafted sweets!  Have a wonderful day my Long Island friend!

And now it’s time to hop to The Paper Landscaper – Denise Marzec.  Thanks for stopping by today!

SC308 and a Shoportunity!

November 24th, 2010

Happy Almost-Turkey-Day Wednesday!  I got a chance to play with the Sketch Challenge on SCS today – SC308 – and I made another Christmas card for my stash.

My 4.25″ square card features the little elf and one of the frame images from Taylored Expressions Take Note – Holidays stamp set along with the Take Note Frame 3 Taylored Die.  The little elf was designed to look like she’s sitting on a shelf or something and ever since I got the set I’ve wanted to perch her on the edge of this frame image.  I stamped her first and masked her, then using my trusty stamp-a-majig I placed the frame *around* her.  I colored her with Copics and die cut with the coordinating Taylored Die.

Color combo is Chocolate, Riding Hood Red, Olive and Ivory.  Designer paper is retired SU.  Sentiment is from TE Tag You’re It!  Chocolate border at the bottom is die cut with the Scalloped Eyelet Border Die (Taylored Dies.)

TESC134 What’s Cookin’?

November 19th, 2010

Happy Friday!  This will be a super quick post to share my card for Taylor’s sketch – TESC134.  I’m actually typing this at 11:30 pm Thursday night.  The last person just left my stamp class (scroll down one post to see the main project we created.)  I’m not quite sure why I thought we needed to make a card on top of that two -sided acrylic mini accordion album, but you know me – More is More afterall!  (I’ll share the card we made another time.)  Anyway, class was an absolute BLAST!  But boy oh boy am I ever spent!!

In the midst of prepping for it I managed to sit down and create a card for today’s sketch.  It’s a really fun sketch and I hope to play with it some more. As I took the sketch in my stamp room to start I thought “Gosh I wish my new November Key Ingredients were here!”  And then it dawned on me that I should go out and check the porch.  Sure enough there was the box!  Perfect!

Sketch – check!

KI – check!

Stamp set – What’s Cookin’ – check!

Nestabilities – Labels 10 – check!

Copics – check!

All the ingredients for a quick card!  🙂

Let’s check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has in store for us today.  I know it’s the first thing I’ll do when I roll out of bed!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a fabulous weekend ahead!
