Welcome to Day 2 of the TE Sneak Peeks!  We have 2 fabulous sets to show you today – Totally Tags and Peaceful Poinsettias.  My sample showcases Peaceful Poinsettias illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes collection.  It’s a full size (5.75″ x 8.5″) set with 16 images and it has so many options for creating gorgeous poinsettias!  You can stamp outlines and color with Copics, you can stamp solid images with ink, and you can die cut and layer to your heart’s content with the coordinating Poinsettia Taylored Die set!  I had so much fun playing with this set and I know you’re going to be amazed when you see what the Baker’s Dozen came up with!

My project is a $2.49 picture frame I picked up at Michael’s. I wanted to frame the photo of Tessa that we used on our Christmas cards last year.  Look at my sweet baby wearing her Christmas coat!  (Click on the photos to see them larger.)

I used papers and ribbon from the Holiday Wonder Project Pantry (also available Thursday.)  The papers were adhered with Mod Podge and then covered with Shimmer Mod Podge which has a pretty gold shimmery finish.  The dimensional poinsettias are the star of the show though!

Here’s what I did to achieve this look:

  • Stamped the solid layer images onto ivory cardstock with Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard, and Lucky Limeade ink
  • Die cut all my pieces with the Poinsettia Taylored Dies
  • Used a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen to go around all the edges – love the rich elegant look of this!
  • Placed each piece on a piercing mat (a mouse pad would also work) and used an embossing stylus to emboss into all the veins on all individual layers and leaves
  • Used my knuckle to impress deeply into the center of each flower layer
  • Lined up the layers on the piercing mat and used my piercer to punch a hole for a rhinestone brad
  • Attached all layers together with the rhinestone brad

Once I got going, all of those steps went pretty quickly.  I’m excited to have a new Christmas decor piece and I’m anxious to play with this stamp set even more!  Let’s see what the Baker’s Dozen has cooked up!

Thanks for stopping by!  Even more peeks are on the way tomorrow!

Oh my!  You are going to LOVE the peeks today!  We are featuring full sized set Woodland Winter plus the coordinating Trim the Tree Taylored Die Set, Mini Set Banner Holiday, Petite sets Moka Betty and Moka Hope and Word A la Carte – SNOW.

I have 2 samples today featuring Woodland Winter and the coordinating Trim the Tree Taylored Die Set.  Honestly when my package arrived the very first thing I wanted to play with was the tree die set.  I actually made 4 cards in my first sitting because I loved it so much!  I’m sharing 2 today and I’ll share the other two at a later date.  It coordinates with the tree stamp in Woodland Winter, but in both samples today, I used the tree without the stamp.  I also used the Frame It Up 1 Die on both cards.

My first card also incorporates the new holiday sentiment set Banner Holidays which includes 16 sentiments formatted to fit into the Banner Day Dies 1, 2 , and 3. This mini set was illustrated by Taylor for the *te* collection.  I used Banner Day 2 Die along with a banner frame image from It’s a Banner Day 2.  The scalloped edge was created with the Medium Scallop Taylored Die.  That adorable little mouse is from Woodland Winter.  Papers are from the Echo Park 6×6 pad Holly Jolly Christmas.  The layered pieces of the tree die are just slightly smaller than the whole tree, so I cut various patterns with the layers and adhered them to a white whole tree and then added sugar sparkly fluff for the look of snow on the edges..

On my second card I cut green layers from patterned paper and curled up the edges before attaching them to a green whole tree as the base.  This card is a little more clean and simple and I used the Scallops and Circles Impression Plate on the red layer and the Musical/Swirls Imapression Plate on the white layer to add texture. The little squirell is popped up on foam tape.

Woodland Winter is a full size stamp set on a 5.75″ x 8.5″ full color sturdy storage panel.  It features 21 images and sentiments illustrated by Doug Applegate fro the Apple Doodle Ink line and will be available Thursday for $21.95.  Just wait till you see all the samples created by the Baker’s Dozen.  So so cute! I’m dying to get more time to sit down and continue playing with this set!

Now let’s see what the Baker’s Dozen has cooked up:

Thanks for stopping by.  Please come back tomorrow for Day 2 of Sneak Peeks!

Follow Your Dreams

October 2nd, 2011

Happy Sunday!  I don’t often blog on Sundays, but I have some really fun news to share and I just couldn’t wait!  Have you seen Taylor’s blog today?  Well if you haven’t…most of you know that I have been with Taylored Expressions since it’s inception.  I have loved working for Taylor as the Marketing and Promotions Director, writing the newsletters and helping with lots of different things behind the scenes.  But my very favorite aspect of the job has been in the area of working with the Baker’s Dozen and helping them out where I can.  So when Taylor asked me if I’d like to make the move to being the Design Team Coordinator I did a major happy dance!

I began my new job a couple of weeks ago and I’m still giddy about it!  We have sneak peeks for the October release starting tomorrow and I’ll be playing along with the team all week.  I feel so fortunate to be working with such an incredibly talented group of women and I’m grateful to Taylor for both this opportunity and even more so for her friendship.

I wanted to make a card to celebrate. I’m flying high, so this seemed perfect!

Once again I used the bird cages from Birds of a Feather to make paper-pieced hot air balloons.  Paper is from the MME Lost and Found Two – Blush 6×6 pad.  The border on the left edge was created with the Cloud Border Taylored Die. The swirls are cut from Want2Scrap Clear Bling Swirls.

The sentiment from New Beginnings seemed perfect for how I’m feeling about this new postion, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you’ve imagined.”

This card is also for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge presented by my sweet friend Lori yesterday over at SCS.  The challenge is all about bling…how could I pass that up?  I’ll be donating this card to the MD Anderson Cancer Center.  I know I won’t have a lot of time to stamp this month – lots going on – but I do hope to get a few more cards made to send along with this one.  Please be sure to check out the HYCCT forum and card drive, as there will be a new challenge presented every day in October and there are lots of prizes to be won.  I’m actually hostessing a challenge at the end of the month.

Thanks for stopping by today and thanks for letting me gush.  🙂  I hope you have a blessed day!
