More is More

Happy Friday!  It’s been a busy week, a good week and now I’m tired and happy for a 4 day weekend!  Of course I’m kicking off the weekend with Taylor’s sketch challenge TESC119.  I love this sketch and can imagine so many different possibilities with it.  My monthly Stamp Class was last night and as soon as I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to use it for a Class card…but not just a regular card…I added a little twist and made it into a simple Z-fold card.

 If you’ve never made a Z-fold, they are super duper SIMPLE!  Start with a regular card base and fold the front of the card back on itself in half.  Cut a piece of designer paper 4″ x 5.25″ and then cut that in half at 2″ and adhere to the front of the card to give the illusion of one solid piece.  You can then use just about any size image panel and only attach it on the left side.  Here’s a more open view of the card.  Make sense?

The butterfly is paper-pieced and the bee and inch worm were colored with SU markers.  The beehive was stamped onto Crushed Curry cardstock and sponged with More Mustard ink.  Paper is Razzleberry Lemonade (SU).  Stamps are Taylored Expressions Garden Party Critters.

Sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock and punched out with a circle punch and layered onto a curry circle for the inside of the card.  Seriously  – there is nothing simpler than this fold and yet it really gives a great WOW effect!  I hope you’ll try one if you haven’t before!
