My First Cheep Talk

February 3rd, 2009

I keep saying that this is the year we will finally get our house organized and have a place for everything.  We got a good start last year and we continued the process this weekend as Curt patched holes in the laundry room (from having the water heater previously moved outside), painted the walls, installed and painted additional wood shelves in the closet (one of those *why didn’t we do this years ago?* things) and installed Elfa System shelves where the water heater used to be.  (btw – the Elfa System is 30% off at The Container Store through this weekend and they will design your space at no charge!)  Oh and he stripped the nasty vinyl floor in there too.  Busy busy busy.  I can’t believe I can be so excited about a laundry room, but I am!  I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday working on putting everything back in there – sorting and finding the most effecient use of space.  It will require a little more tweaking, but WOW, it is so much better already!  On Sunday night when there was nothing left we could do while the paint dried on the shelves, I managed to squeeze in some stamping with my new SU stuff.

I just love Cheep Talk and it was at the top of my priority list for my first order.  I went way way way outside my comfort zone to use the colors in the Retro Style Watch – Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip.  The chocolate panel is popped up on foam tape.  I used two orange rhinestone brads at the top and a green one in the center of the flower I stamped in Pumpkin Pie and cut out.  The flower is attached with a pop up glue dot.  Of course I had to use my eyelet border punch and a adhered a strip of Chocolate Chip behind it so the card would still stand up.  The polka dot rose panel is from one of the hostess packs of dp and I just added a little faux stitching.  This card is SUO except for my last minute additio of some orange and cinnamon Stickles across the bottom.

Yesterday my sweet friend Lisa took me to see the movie New in Town as an early birthday present.  The movie stars Renee Z. and Harry Connick Jr. and I highly recommend it.  It was a very sweet romatic comedy and there were several points where we laughed out loud!  I won’t give anything away, but I will say that several of the ladies in the movie are *scrappers* and several scenes take place around kitchen table where they are cropping.  It’s a chick flick for sure, so grab a girlfriend or two and make a movie date!  Thanks so much Lisa – I had an awesome day with you!

I’m off to work for a joint February birthday lunch celebration….oh and to work too.  *wink*  I plan to spend a good chunk of the day tomorrow stamping in my PJ’s!!!!   Hope you have a great day!

Ooooooh, cute, Jami! I have to say, I really love these colors together. Different but, wow, they work! BTW, I’d be pretty excited about remodeling our laundry room, too. It’s on the list and, boy, does it need it! Looks like CHA was a good time. I’m so proud of these girls!
