 Becky K. said

I might be #30 – congrats on your blogiversary! I come to your blog because while I was so incredibly shy & nervous at SCSM4, {{totally quaking in my boots}}, you were kind enough to intentionally take the time to introduce yourself to me. I’ll never forget that! Thanks! Becky K

Awww – thanks Becky – it was a pleasure to meet you last year and I’m looking forward to seeing you again.  I’ve e-mailed you to get your snail mail so I can get your goodies off to you.  🙂

Stay tuned for another give away soon and I’ll be announcing the winner of the second give away soon too!  Thanks for playing everyone.

Blogiversary Give Away #2

February 18th, 2008

Wow!  I am overwhelmed and humbled by all of the wonderful comments left on my first Blogiversary Give-Away post.  You guys are so sweet!  Stay tuned for the winner of that give away to be announced sometime in the next couple of days.

I wanted to share a few more things I really loved at CHA.  First my very favorite new paper line was Cosmo Cricket Honey Pie.  I was delighted at how many people I talked to said the very same thing – everyone seems to love this paper with the look of cross-stitch.

cosmo-honey-pie-08-custom.jpg

The first time I stopped by the booth I was approached by a gal who noticed my badge and asked is your name Jami with no “e”?  I said “yep” and she said “me too”!!!  We had a little bonding moment before talking about Cosmo Cricket when she mentioned that her brother Eric is the designer.  (Hi Jami if you’re reading!).  The next time I stopped by the booth (to take pictures I failed to take the first time – duh) I got to meet Eric himself and tell him that his paper was my show favorite!

My second favorite paper line was Crate Katlin.

crate-katlin-08-cha-jami-custom.jpg

I love the texture of Crate Paper and these colors are so yummy!  They just need to come out with a 6×6 pad!

Another product that really impressed me was the soon to be released ribbon trough from Clip It Up.  I got to speak with the designer of this product too.  I don’t have her name written down (sorry), but she was such a gracious lady.  It was a pleasure to talk to her.

clip-it-up-ribbon-holder-jami-cha-custom.jpg

You may have seen in the SCS gallery how some people have purchased rain gutters and turned them into holders for ribbon and punches.  Well this ribbon trough takes that idea and makes it awesome with lots of wonderful details. There is a bar to hold your spools in if you want to leave them in and just cut off what you need, but the spools still lift out freely when you need them too.  There is a place for ribbon scissors at each end of the trough.  The trough is exactly 36″ long so you can easily measure out 1 yard of ribbon and it will come with inch markings as well.  How cool is that?  Plus there is a clip it up bar and hooks at the bottom to hook pieces of ribbon too small for a spool – or for other accesories.  The only thing I didn’t care for was that it only comes in black.  I asked if they might have a white version and the gal said that it is a durability issue at this point and the white materials they have looked at are not as durable as what they are using in black.  The other piece of teriffic news is that will also be coming out with a Clip It Up Mini for those of us who just don’t have room for the current large version.

For more of my write ups on CHA as well as posts from several other fabulous ladies be sure to check out the SCS CHA blog.  We are still posting trying to get all caught up over there.

I was very excited to stop by the A Muse booth for two reasons.  First my oh-so-fabulous friend Her Royal Rubberness Julie Ebersole was working the booth and second there were samples of the Elzybells Spring release (going on sale tomorrow).  Unfortunately they didn’t allow photos of the new line, but they are adorable.  And as a huge bonus I got to meet both Linda Carnell and Emily Montenero in the booth. Sweet!

While there talking with Julie a gaggle of my DD/DDA buddies showed up and it was the perfect photo op of us with our Queen!

The back row is Jeanne S, me, Stamps4FuninCA (Tosha), Kittie and the front row is Linda D (seriously – she reallyis that short!  Love ya Linda!) JulieHRR, BadSherry (eyes closed – sorry!)

Good times!

Oh my goodness I just went to get the link for Elzybells and I see that the Spring line is now available for purchase.  Curt got a new phone – a Tilt – for Valentine’s Day and he told me to pick out some stamps.  Those Elzy’s are calling my name!!!  I need some from the Friendship release and some from the Spring release!

And now it’s time for Blogiversary Give-Away #2  🙂

WooHoo!!! It’s been one year since my very first blog post.  I can hardly believe it.  What a fun addiction and wonderful motivation to make time for stamping!  We’ll be celebrating this week with some Blogiversary Give-aways.  I won’t say how many or exactly what days because I love surprises.  So you’ll just have to check in daily this week if you want to register for the prizes.  Thank you to everyone who has subscribed to my blog (you can do that by clicking the FeedBlitz button to the left) and to everyone who stops by periodically.  I can hardly believe there are people interested in seeing my stuff and reading what I have to say, but anyone who has seen me at the mic at StampMania knows how much I love to be *on stage*.  *GRIN*  I think I’m still recovering from CHA (and still have more pics from it to share too), so this party was the perfect reason to take the time to sit down and stamp a card.  In the hurry and hustle-bustle it’s so easy to forget just how much I love to stamp.  I grabbed a SU hostess set that hadn’t seen ink yet because the images just made me happy.   I guess with a name like “A Little Bit of Happiness” that just makes sense.  My goal was to just play and enjoy.  Hope you like it.

blogiversary-card-08-jami-custom.jpg

I started by stamping my image on Paper Trey Ink white cardstock with Brilliance Graphite Black ink and heat setting it.  I then colored the image with my limited range of Copics (still trying to decide just how much of an investment I really want to make in Copics).  I colored around the edge of the image in yellow and trimmed it down.  I then mounted the image on another piece of the white cardstock which I trimmed with scallop scissors and pierced.  That was then layered onto a piece of Rose Red cardstock.  The cardstock base is also PTI white and I don’t know if you can see it, but I stamped it with the background stamp Stitched in Pretty in Pink for just a little something at the top of the card.  The designer paper is from the 6×6 hostess pad in Pretty in Pink.  I turned back the corner and held it down with a square yellow brad from SU.  A tiny flower from Little Flowers was stamped in Pomegranate ink and some piercing was added in the corner.  A strand A Muse ribbon in green finishes off this card.

So….are you ready for a Blogiversary Candy Give Away???  Here is my first offering.

blogiversary-candy-1-jami-08-custom.jpg

That cupcake is a gift box!  I got it at CHA from Plaid and it’s adorable!  It will come to you along with a sheet of cupcake stickers and 5 spools of ribbon as shown  – each spool has 2-5 yards of ribbon (grosgrain – artichoke, turquoise, bright pink, pomegranate/rose red, pink gingham and summer sun organdy).  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling me why you come back to my blog…also please list your post # (check the one just before you and if everyone stays on track you’ll know your number).  ETA: Also please put your name in your post  – thanks!  Entries for this offering will close Monday February 18th at 11pm Pacific and will be announced sometime later this week.  Plus don’t forget to check in for more offerings throughout the week.

ETA: This contest is now closed.  Winner to be announced soon.

Thanks for sharing my journey with me and feel free to invite more friends to join us here.  More is More and the More the Merrier!!!

Valentine for a Rocket Scientist

February 15th, 2008

Just a quick post to share the Valentine I made for Curt.

valentine-for-curt-2008-jami-small.jpg

As soon as I saw Pun Fun I knew I wanted to make a card for Curt with this cute rocket image.  Last week’s SCS color challenge (Ballet Blue, Real red, Apricot) was just what I needed to get this card started.  I used the jumbo wheel Whimsy at a diaganol across the blue panel.  The rocket was stamped on shimmer white and colored with re-inker and an aquapainter and a zig painty pen.  The *doodling* around the edge is actually my hand written sentiment “I love you to the moon and back ~ to infinity and beyond ~ forever and ever”.  The little hearts are a dollar punch from Target and I covered them with a red Sakura sparkle gel pen.  Ribbon goes through a jumbo eyelet.

I’m just about to celebrate my One Year Blogiversary so be on the lookout for some blog candy!  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Kaiser Crafts

February 14th, 2008

It’s back to work for me today, but before I go I thought I’d share one of my CHA show favorites with you Kaiser Craft Designs.  This is an Australian company I was unfamilar with.  They have tons of different products, but what caught my eye in the booth was there rhinestones and pearls.

kaiser-pink-rhinestones-custom.jpg

The rhinestones are a beautiful sparkly quality – self adhesive and not connected to one another.  Also you will notice that there are plenty of each size to make several cards or projects with one package.  And they have a very reasonable price point. They come in a whole bunch of fabulous colors including silver and black!  A little birdie told me that ecelctic Paperie might be carrying these in the near future so be sure to keep a look out.  They also have round and square stones as well as flowers.

kaiser-flower-rhinestones-custom.jpg

The pearls are equally as yummy and come in lots of colors including chocolate. Below you see them in a soft green.

kaiser-pearls-custom.jpg

Lori and I waited in line for quite awhile to be able to do the Make & Take at this booth.

kaiser-mt-at-booth-custom.jpg

It was amazing how many kaiser products were used in this adorable M&T.

kaiser-tag-custom.jpg

Everything you see on this project is a Kaiser product – starting with the wood (not chipboard) tag.  The letters are also wood – very cool and they even make the paint we used on the letters.  We had our choice of a table full of gorgeous papers to use, a whole box of ribbon and another entire box of bling and flowers.  It was totally worth the wait!  Oh and then she offered us our choice of gifts.  I chose a wood acordian frame.  Sweet!  🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day.  I’ll be back later to share the card I made for Curt.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Faces of CHA

February 13th, 2008

CHA is the Craft and Hobby Association Trade show.  To say it is is huge would be a massive understatement.  Manufacturers from all aspects of crafting are there to show their product to vendors and take orders.  There is nothing available for immediate purchase at the show – and it’s a good thing because you’d go broke before you completed two aisles.  Papercrafting is probably 2/3 or more of the show so there is MUCH to see!  I used to watch Carol Duvall cover the show for HGTV and wish wish wish I could go.  I have been so fortunate to be able to attend both last January and this February.  This year I attended the show for 2 1/2 days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) and still did not see everything.

One of the amazing aspects of the show this year was just how many friends from across the country were here.  I got to meet so many people in person for the first time after getting to know them through SCS and I got to hook up again with many of the friends I saw in Portland and at StampMania last year.  I have lots of product pictures to show you, but I’ll need some more time for photo editing.  In the meantime I thought I’d share a few people pictures.

Me and Lori doing the Make’n’Take at the Pebbles booth. I cried when Lori left today.  I don’t usually do that so it really took me by surprise. Lori’s friendship is one of those special unexpected blessings in life.

Here’s the card we made:

pebbles-mnt-custom.jpg

They had us dab acrylic paint onto a foam stamp, stamp the image and cut it out.  The sentiment is a rub on.  Their paper lines are really cute, but I thought acrylic paint was an odd (and messy) choice for a M&T.

I got to meet two of my stamping idols in person for the first time.  Both of them are awesome women who I’ve gotten to know through the SCS Dirty Dozen and DD Alumni group and both have participated in some of my swaps. It was so great to finally get to hug them.

First  – here’s me with Debbie Olsen.  🙂

debbie-and-me-new-one-custom.jpg

And here I am with Anna Wight (SweetMissDaisy).  Hey Anna – still waiting for my turkey wearing polka dots!  😉

anna-and-me-custom.jpg

On Saturday night before the show got started Daven, Jenn and Lori hosted a SplitCoast Cupcake Reception as a show of appreciation for the effort of the site Moderators and Dirty Dozen as well as a thank you to some of their advertisers.  Here’s a photo of some of the Dirty Girls who were there – again what fun to get to hug all these incredible women!

dda-cupcake-party-custom.jpg

me, Tosha (stamps4funinCa), Jen (genie1314), Sherrie (BC Sherrie), Trudee, Jeanne S, Debbie Olsen, Jenn (jbalcer), Linda D, Lisa Lisa, Kittie, BadSherry, 11Valerie11, StamperSharon.

I’ll be back with lots more soon and I’m also blogging for the SCS CHA blog along with Lori, Jenn, Taylor, Mary Jo and Sarah so be sure to check that out.  I’m pretty sure it will take us through the end of the week to get all of our stuff posted there and on our own blogs!  Not to mention trying to catch up on laundry, groceries, and uh….is Valentine’s Day really tomorrow?  I might be a little behind.

Thanks for stopping by – lots more to come.

Philippians 4:6-7 Everything

February 8th, 2008

It’s time for another Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge.  Click here for Challenge details and please join with us – everyone is welcome!  We’ll be uploading on the 8th of each month, but if you don’t make it that day you can always upload later as well.

bible-verse-phil-4-feb-08-jami-custom.jpg

This month I chose Philippians 4:6-7 because it has been one of my life verses so it was really a natural for me.  As someone who has struggled off and on throughout my life with anxiety/panic disorder there have been many times when this verse has been like a life preserver in a stormy ocean.  The peace of God which truly is beyond human comprehension is one of His most wonderful gifts.

The card, like last month is made to fit in a small tin and opens so I can journal inside.  The verse was printed on vellum and I used the SU set Always along with Berry Bliss designer paper.  I got the “everything” crooked at the bottom despite using my Stamp-a-majig and it’s bugging me, but there was no time to start over tonight.

I can’t wait to see what the other Scripture Chicks have done this month.  Click on their names to go to their blogs or click here to go to the Bible Verse uploads on SCS.

I have to show you my little shopping find.  I whizzed through Kohl’s really quickly and check these out…

jumbo-clips-feb-08-jami-custom.jpg

Super Duper Gargantuan Jumbo Clips!  There are three in a package.  The original price was $19.99, but they were on sale for $7.99.  I resisted the urge to buy all they had, even putting down the second package I had in my hands.  Are they huge or what?  I put the jumbo clip I made last week next to them for size reference.  Office supplies in the Land of the Giants!  LOL!

Lori arrives this afternoon!  WooHoo!  The next few days are going to be so incredible!  I’ll post when I can.  Be sure to check in…I’ll try to have some CHA product photos *wink*

Thanks for stopping by!
