Chain of Inspiration

October 9th, 2007

In the midst of being totally busy yesterday I had to take a couple of breaks for a few minutes and calm my mind with some stamping.  I had scraps of SU Dashing Designer Paper out on my table and that was the perfect inspiration for a couple of very quick cards.

The inspiration for the layout of this card is kind of funny.  I was doing a very quick surf through the gallery for the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS.  The featured stamper this week is Anna Wight (SweetMissDaisy) who I adore and even though I didn’t think I’d have time to play I wanted to at least look a bit.  Well, I came across a card by another adored friend Sharon Johnson (notimetostamp) that she CASEd from Anna as a tribute.  But when I saw Sharon’s card I thought “hmm….that looks like a Val card to me” (Valerie Stangle -11Valerie11).  Then I clicked on Sharon’s link to Anna’s card and in Anna’s description she said she had been inspired by Val and gave a link to her card.  So I clicked on that and it took me to a card of Val’s from last year that I had attempted to CASE myself!  LOL!  No wonder that card reminded me of Val.  I had studied it carefully when I first saw it.

Here’s the progression of cards I saw – and I loved each one of them!

Sharon

Anna

Val

And here’s mine

I started with this yummy red and vanilla candy stripe paper and the Take Three image.  Then I hunted around to pick a color to go with the red/vanilla scheme and came up with soft sky.  I think this combo has such a soft retro feel to it – like the 1940’s.  I stamped the SU Polka Dot background in Soft Sky ink on Vanilla cardstock for the background.  I didn’t have any Soft Sky ribbon so I improvised with a strip of cardstock.  Finishing touches are a couple of prima flowers and some AMuse Twinkle Dots in blue.

I’m off to work.  Thanks for stopping by.

Ooooooh, this paper is yummy! It reminds me of pillow ticking. I looked at that same progression when I saw Sharon’s card and now, here’s yours. Talk about inspiration! I love your take on it with the scallops and flower/ribbon accent. Adorable!

[…] next card is another one to add to the Chain of Inspiration described in this post.  I like this one so much I think I might make 10 or 20 up as one batch of our Christmas cards […]
